Who this page is for
Many of the families who contact us have a child in French immersion who is struggling with English reading, spelling or writing, or who has gaps in math. Some have just switched from French immersion to the English program and need to catch up. Keats does not teach French. We help with English and math.
English reading, spelling and writing
School English homework comes first in every class. Then a Keats English booklet built from your child's learning plan: phonics and word patterns in Kindergarten to Grade 3, reading comprehension and paragraphs in Grades 4 to 7, essays and literary analysis in Grades 8 to 12. Canadian spelling and conventions throughout.
Switched out of French immersion and behind in math
The $34 Learning Plan Session names the gaps, usually the units that were taught in French and never landed. The Keats booklet closes them one at a time while the current school unit still comes first, so your child catches up without falling further behind.
How a Keats class works
Your child, their tutor, and a tutor assistant in the room. One hour, on paper, at a desk.
School homework first
They bring their homework and classwork. The tutor teaches any concept that is unclear, then your child works through the homework with help right there whenever they need it. The aim is understanding, not just answers.
Then their Keats booklet
Written from their learning plan and the BC curriculum. It closes any gap, keeps them ahead when they are ahead, and gives extra practice on the topic they just covered.
A lesson note every week
What was covered, where your child is, what comes next, in your Keats Parent Account. Nothing to chase at pickup, nothing to guess at before the next report card.
French immersion schools our students attend
Named as schools our students come from. Keats follows the BC curriculum, so the English and math work lines up with what these schools teach.

My child is in French immersion and behind in English. Can you help?
Yes. We help French immersion students with English reading, writing and spelling, and with math. Keats does not teach French.
My child just switched from French immersion to the English program. Where do we start?
With a $34 Learning Plan Session in math or English. The tutor works through grade-level BC curriculum material with your child, finds the gaps, and writes the plan the booklets are built from.
Which grades?
Kindergarten to Grade 12, at both centres.
How much does it cost?
Keats Membership is $199 a month per subject for one hour a week, or $349 a month for two hours a week in the same subject, plus GST. The first step is a $34 Learning Plan Session.
Do you offer private tutoring for French immersion students?
Not any more. Keats ran private tutoring and shared private classes side by side for more than a year, and the shared private class gave the steadier progress. A private student leans on one tutor, and when that tutor moves on, the learning stops with them. In a Keats class your child follows a learning plan and booklets that stay the same whoever is teaching, with a tutor and a tutor assistant for every 4 to 6 students, and learns to work through a problem on their own.
Where are the centres?
At 103 - 1258 Lynn Valley Rd, Lynn Valley Village, North Vancouver, and 3317 W 4th Ave, Kitsilano, 7 days a week.
