What we commit to

Before the rules, here is what you get from us, every week, for every student.

• A regular tutor at a regular time, every week. Your child's hour is reserved, not assigned to whoever happens to be free. Where our management judges that a different tutor would serve your child better, we make that change and tell you.
• A written learning plan at the start, built from your child's Learning Plan Session, and every tutor teaches to it.
• Everything follows the BC curriculum. We do not import another country’s method or another company’s programme.
• Lesson notes after sessions as they are useful, and progress updates as your child moves through the plan.
• A BC criminal record check from every tutor before they work at the centre.
• The academy is recorded, video and audio, 24 hours a day, so that what happens in a session is never one person's word against another's.
• You are welcome to sit in on a session. Let us know in advance so we can plan the room for it.

1 · The Learning Plan Session

$34 plus GST, $35.70 · both locations and online

One session per child, not per family. Two children means two sessions, because the plan is written for one child.

Forty five minutes with a senior Keats tutor, one subject from the BC curriculum. The written plan is given to you on the spot or emailed within 24 hours.

Payment is by Interac e-Transfer and is due within 24 hours of the invoice. The session is confirmed when the transfer arrives. Until then the time stays open to other families.

The Learning Plan Session does not reserve a tutoring spot and does not promise a particular tutor. Nothing is scheduled or held until a package or membership is paid.

You may reschedule once, free, with at least 24 hours notice. With less than 24 hours notice, or a no-show, the session is used and a new one is a new $34.

The $34 is a service in its own right. It is not credited toward a package or a membership, and it is not refunded, including inside the one week window in section 2. If we cancel, you choose a new time or a full refund.

If the Learning Plan Session is not what you were hoping for, you are under no obligation to continue.

2 · Private tutoring, North Vancouver

$68/h · 5 sessions $325 · 10 sessions $620 · 20 sessions $1,120 · semi-private $40/h per student · plus GST

Every package has a weekly minimum. The 5 session package runs at a minimum of one session a week. The 10 and 20 session packages run at a minimum of two. You are welcome to book more than your minimum in any week.

Every package has a start date and an expiry date. The start date is your first session. The expiry date is the number of weeks your sessions take at your weekly minimum, plus two weeks of room for the weeks that do not go to plan. Both dates are on your account page from the day you start, and the expiry date does not move.

Your package closes on whichever comes first, your sessions running out or your expiry date arriving.

Adding an extra session in a busy week is fine, before an exam or a big assignment. It uses one of your sessions, so you reach the end of the package a little sooner and we set up the next one. It does not change your expiry date.

Changing a session. Let us know at least 24 hours before the class and we will move it to another free time inside the same week, so your child does not fall a week behind and your tutor’s schedule holds. A moved session is never added to the end of the package.

Two free changes per package, per student. Your account page shows how many you have left, so you always know where you stand. After those two, a change uses the hour.

Less than 24 hours notice, or a no-show, uses the hour. Your tutor waits 15 minutes. A late start does not extend the session, which still ends at its scheduled time.

Illness is treated as any other change, under the same 24 hour notice and the same two free changes. The two weeks built into your expiry date are there to absorb the weeks that do not go to plan.

Statutory holidays. The academy is closed. Private sessions are moved inside the same week, as any other change. The dates for this year are listed at the bottom of this page.

School breaks. We are open through spring break, winter break and summer. Sessions carry on and packages do not pause for a break.

If a Keats tutor cancels, at any notice, the session is rescheduled or credited, whichever you prefer.

Packages are not refundable. The $34 Learning Plan Session exists so that you can see how we teach and decide whether we are the right fit for your child, before committing to a package. One time sessions are the only refundable item we sell, and only when cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand.

Brothers and sisters. Unused sessions can be moved once to a sibling at the same location, before the expiry date, where that sibling has completed their own Learning Plan Session and has a learning plan of their own. We would rather the sessions were used by your family than lost.

Not happy with the tutor? Tell us as soon as you feel it and we will change them. We may also change a tutor ourselves where we judge it better for your child. See section 8.

Activation fee, $79. One fee per family, not per child, charged once with your first package and never again. If you enrol a second child, or a child at our other location, there is no second fee. Section 9 explains what it covers.

3 · Private tutoring, Kitsilano

$78 single session · 10 sessions $760 · 20 sessions $1,480 · plus GST

Kitsilano does not offer the 5 session package.

Both packages run at a minimum of two sessions a week. Every package has a start date and a fixed expiry date, which is the weeks your sessions take at that minimum plus two weeks, and it closes on whichever comes first: your sessions running out or the expiry date arriving. Booking above your minimum in a busy week uses your sessions sooner and never moves the expiry date.

Everything else is identical to North Vancouver: 24 hours notice and a same week change, two free changes per package, illness treated as any other change, statutory holiday moves inside the same week, open through all school breaks, the 15 minute rule, tutor cancellations rescheduled or credited, no refunds on packages, sibling transfer where that sibling has completed their own Learning Plan Session, and tutor changes on request or at our judgement.

Activation fee, $79. One fee per family, charged once with your first package, across both locations.

4 · Group Math, Lynn Valley

$199 per month plus GST · two classes per week · plus a one time $79 activation fee per family

Two classes per week, placed by level after the Learning Plan Session. Your child may attend one of the two if that suits your week better. The price is the same either way.

Lesson notes go to parents after class as they are useful. Not every class produces one.

A month is four weeks of teaching. Billing is at the beginning of each calendar month. When a calendar month has a fifth week, those classes are included at no extra charge.

Statutory holidays. The academy is closed and there is no class. A group class runs for a whole room and cannot be re-run for one family, so there is no make-up class and no credit. Students are given material and homework for that week instead. Across a year the free fifth weeks more than cover it.

School breaks. We are open through spring break, winter break and summer. Classes run as normal.

Missed classes. No make-up and no credit, because the seat is held for your child all month. You can mark an absence on your account page so the tutor knows to expect it.

If Keats cancels a class, a make-up class is scheduled.

Taking a month off. If your child will be away for a full calendar month, tell us by the 15th of the month before and that month is not charged. The seat is held while you are away. Once per school year.

One or two weeks away is not a pause. The month is charged in full, the seat is held, and we provide material and homework for the weeks your child misses.

Changing your class day. Tell us at least one week before the new month begins and we will apply the change from that month, if a seat exists at the new time. Day and level changes are arranged by the academy.

Payment is by pre-authorized debit at the start of each month, in advance. The first payment is the first month, plus the $79 activation fee if this is your family's first enrolment with us, which is $291.90 with GST at the current price. If you already have a child with us, it is the month alone, $208.95. It continues month to month until you stop it.

Stopping or changing. Written notice by the 15th stops or changes the following month. A month already started is not refunded.

5 · Keats Membership, Kitsilano

$259 per month per subject plus GST · two sessions a week · Math or English · plus a one time $79 activation fee per family · optional Quarterly Academic Review and Plan $49.95

Kitsilano membership is $259 per month per subject, with a fixed timetable and two sessions a week in your chosen subject. This is a different programme from Lynn Valley group math and a different price.

All the Lynn Valley rules in section 4 apply here in the same words: the four week month, billing at the start of each calendar month, fifth weeks free, closed on statutory holidays with material and homework instead of a make-up, open through all school breaks, no make-up or credit for a missed session, a make-up when Keats cancels, a free month off with notice by the 15th, one or two weeks away charged in full, day changes requested a week before the new month, and notice by the 15th to stop or change.

Quarterly Academic Review and Plan is optional, billed with the first month of each quarter, and can be cancelled any time before a quarter starts.

A second subject is a second membership at the same price. The $79 activation fee is charged once per family, never per subject and never per child.

6 · One-time sessions, online and in-home

One-time sessions. $68 plus GST in North Vancouver, $78 plus GST in Kitsilano, paid in full before the session. A single session does not include Keats material, homework, a lesson note, or a held time the following week, and no activation fee applies. Students bring their own school work, in the subject the session was booked for. A one-time session is not rescheduled: if it is missed, or moved with less than 24 hours notice, it is used. It can be refunded if you cancel at least 24 hours before it takes place, and it is the only refundable item we sell.

Online sessions. Same prices, same packages and the same rules as in person at your home location. The 15 minute rule runs from the scheduled start whether or not your child joins the call.

In-home tutoring. Available by arrangement, depending on tutor and area, quoted as one all-in hourly rate that already includes travel. The Learning Plan Session itself always takes place at the centre.

7 · Payments, renewals and fees

Payment is due within 24 hours of the invoice, for everything. On pre-authorized debit it is taken the same day. Nothing is booked, held or confirmed before payment arrives.

The Learning Plan Session and one-time sessions are paid by Interac e-Transfer. Packages and memberships are on pre-authorized bank debit, set up when your agreement is signed. We do not take cards or cash.

Packages and memberships renew automatically, on the same package as last time, so that your child's time is never given away between packages.

To change the size of your next package, or to stop, tell us at least two weeks before your expiry date. Your start and expiry dates are on your account page from the day the package begins. Without prior notice the same package renews.

Memberships and group: tell us by the 15th of the month to stop, change or pause the following month. A month already started is not refunded or credited.

All prices are plus 5% GST. Prices may change with 30 days written notice, and a package already paid keeps its price.

The $79 activation fee is charged once per family, not per child and not per programme. It has been in place since August 2026 and applies to families joining from that point forward. Families quoted before it existed are not charged it.

A returned or failed debit is retried once after three days. If the second attempt fails, sessions pause until the balance is paid by e-transfer and a $25 returned payment fee applies. Late payment can suspend sessions until the account is current.

Approved refunds are processed within 7 to 14 business days to the original payment method.

Every enrolment is confirmed in writing and signed online. The signed agreement and this page together are the terms.

8 · Our tutors, and the centre

Every Keats tutor is Keats qualified and Keats trained, and every one provides a BC criminal record check before working at the centre. We ask that concerns about a tutor come to the academy manager, and we take unfounded accusations seriously.

Tutor information. We do not share personal information about our tutors. Where it helps, the academy manager can confirm a tutor's university degree by email with that tutor's permission. Personal contact details are never shared.

The academy is recorded, video and audio, 24 hours a day, to protect our students, our tutors and the academy. Any concern raised with us is reviewed against the recordings.

You are welcome to sit in on a session from time to time. Please let us know in advance so we can plan the room, and so that it is not distracting for the other students.

Tutors are interchangeable. If you would like a different tutor, tell us and we will arrange it. Keats may also change a tutor at any time where our management judges it better for the student, and we will tell you when we do.

If a tutor leaves Keats, we match your child with another expert tutor in that subject, who teaches to the same learning plan. A tutor leaving is not grounds for a refund or a pause. You are enrolling with Keats, not with one individual.

9 · Material and homework

All packages, memberships and programmes include classwork and homework as needed. One-time sessions do not: students bring their own school work, in the subject booked.

The $79 activation fee, charged once per family, covers the material we provide, your account and profile setup, lesson notes, and the services around the programme including student rewards.

If a tutor recommends extra material, we email it to you.

There is a limit to the material included. Beyond it we offer our own full BC curriculum books at a cost. Please ask the academy rather than the tutor, as tutors do not issue material outside the plan.

We teach from Keats material and your child's school material. We do not recommend outside resources, though of course you are free to look for your own.

Your child's school work is the priority. Students are welcome to bring their own school homework to a group class or a private session, work on it, and ask the tutor about it. Keats material comes second.

It does need to be the same subject as the session. A student who comes to us for math works on math. Science homework is for a science session, because the tutor booked for that hour is the specialist in that subject and has prepared for it. If your child needs help in a second subject, tell us and we will arrange the right tutor.

Homework is not mandatory. The amount is agreed at the Learning Plan Session, and if you would like less at any point, tell us and we will adjust it.

10 · Referring a family

A $70 Amazon gift card once the family you referred completes their first paid private or group session. The Learning Plan Session does not count. Sent by email within 5 to 14 days.

One reward per referred family, and no limit on how many families you refer.

Statutory holidays, 2026 to 2027

We are closed on these days. Private sessions are moved inside the same week. Group classes and memberships receive material and homework instead.

Boxing Day and Easter Monday are not BC statutory holidays, so we are open. Spring break, winter break and summer are not closures.
