IELTS preparation is different from K–12 tutoring. Most candidates have a fixed test date, a target band score (often 6.5, 7, or 7.5+ depending on the visa or program), and limited time. Generic study guides treat IELTS like a vocabulary problem — it's not. It's a band-score problem, with very specific scoring criteria for each of the four sections.
We start every IELTS engagement with a diagnostic mock test. We score it against the official band descriptors, identify which sections are dragging the overall band down, and build a plan around the gap. Most candidates we see have one or two weak sections (often Writing Task 2 or Speaking) limiting an otherwise strong band.
Sessions are private 1-on-1 with a tutor who has personally written IELTS or has formal training in teaching it — trained at UBC and other top universities, with experience prepping international students and immigration candidates.
Five things every Keats IELTS candidate gets — from session one.
We teach to the official IELTS band descriptors — not generic English. You'll know exactly what a Band 7 Writing Task 2 looks like, and what's missing from yours.
First session is a full timed mock or focused diagnostic across the weak sections. We score it; we plan from there.
Real Part 1, 2, 3 simulations — with structured feedback on fluency, vocabulary range, grammar, and pronunciation.
Task 1 (data summary or letter) and Task 2 (essay) marked against the band descriptors with concrete rewrites.
Tell us your test date and target band. We back-plan from there — intensity ramps as the date gets closer.
